Restart Video Mac

NVRAM (nonvolatile random-access memory) is a small amount of memory that your Mac uses to store certain settings and access them quickly. PRAM (Parameter RAM) stores similar information, and the steps for resetting NVRAM and PRAM are the same.

  2. Restart Mac In Mac Os

Settings that can be stored in NVRAM include sound volume, display resolution, startup-disk selection, time zone, and recent kernel panic information. The settings stored in NVRAM depend on your Mac and the devices that you're using with your Mac.

Your Mac Freezes Randomly. If your Mac freezes from time to time even if it’s not running any third. Hold down all of these keys: Command, Option (Alt), P and R, and turn on the Mac (it's the same keys to reset the PRAM). Keep holding the keys down until you hear the Mac restart again. Spin palace register. Shut down the Mac. Turn on the Mac. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys immediately after you hear the startup sound. Hold these keys until the Mac restarts and you hear the startup sound.

Using the Terminal Application 1. Open the Applications folder from the Dock of your Mac. The Terminal window will display on-screen. Type the following command into Terminal: “shutdown -r now”. Alternately, you can type the commands, “reboot”. Press “Enter” on your keyboard. Mac computer settings might prevent Meet from using the microphone. If this happens, restart Chrome Browser. If that doesn't work, restart your computer, then increase the microphone volume in your system’s settings. If using an Apple ® Mac ® computer, you might need to: Restart your browser or computer. Adjust your computer's microphone.

If you experience issues related to these settings or others, resetting NVRAM might help. For example, if your Mac starts up from a disk other than the one selected in Startup Disk preferences, or a question mark icon briefly appears before your Mac starts up, you might need to reset NVRAM.

How to reset NVRAM

Shut down your Mac, then turn it on and immediately press and hold these four keys together: Option, Command, P, and R. You can release the keys after about 20 seconds, during which your Mac might appear to restart.

  • On Mac computers that play a startup sound, you can release the keys after the second startup sound.
  • On Mac computers that have the Apple T2 Security Chip, you can release the keys after the Apple logo appears and disappears for the second time.

If your Mac is using a firmware password, this key combination does nothing or causes your Mac to start up from macOS Recovery. To reset NVRAM, first turn off the firmware password.

Computer

When your Mac finishes starting up, you might want to open System Preferences and adjust any settings that were reset, such as sound volume, display resolution, startup disk selection, or time zone.

  • If you're using a desktop Mac instead of a notebook, and settings such as sound volume or time zone are reset every time you shut down and unplug your Mac, you might need to replace the battery inside your Mac. This small battery is on your computer's logic board, and it helps NVRAM retain settings when your Mac is unplugged. You can take your Mac to an Apple service provider to replace the battery.
  • If you experience issues with sleep, wake, power, charging your Mac notebook battery, or other power-related symptoms, you might need to reset the SMC (System Management Controller).

When you restart your Mac, macOS automatically opens all the applications that were running when it was rebooted or shut down. So, if you were working on a Microsoft Word document when the crash happened or when you were playing a video using your media player, all these windows will be restored when macOS is restarted.

This feature was created to allow users to easily access the files or apps that they were working on. It also helps them recover or continue with the tasks that they were doing. Quickly reloading the apps that were running before macOS rebooted or crashed saves the users from the hassle of opening them again.

Unfortunately, some users find this annoying instead of helpful. For example, if the app causing the crash keeps on being reloaded, then you’ll never get out of that boot loop as long as this feature is on. There are also users who prefer to start on a clean slate whenever they reboot their Macs. If this is the case, read down below to find out how to stop apps from reopening after restart in Mac.

Education

Why Prevent Mac From Reloading Apps After Restart?

In most cases, macOS reopening your apps after a crash or restart is quite helpful because you can immediately get back to what you were doing. No time wasted launching the apps and starting all over again.

However, there are some users who find this feature a nuisance and wants to avoid all apps from reopening when Mac crashes. Here are some of the common reasons why you would want to disable this feature:

  • Re-loaded app causes the crash. Imagine this: you’re editing a photo when Photoshop crashed due to some error. When your Mac restarts, it will automatically launch Photoshop again and if you’re unlucky, you’ll get the same error and force your Mac to restart again. You won’t be able to get out of the loop unless you stop Photoshop from loading.
  • Launching the app takes a long time. If you have 10 apps open when your Mac crashed, macOS will load each and every one of them after restarting. And if you have multiple tabs open on Safari, they will be re-loaded too. Instead of getting to the app that you really need, your Mac is busy launching the apps that you don’t need. So if you want a quick start, disabling this feature is a must.
  • You hate clutter. Some users just want to start fresh whenever they restart their Mac. No apps open, no files cluttering the Desktop.

Whatever your reason is, trying to prevent Mac from reloading apps after restart is an easy task. You just need to tweak some settings and you’re off to a clean restart. If you ever changed your mind, you can easily undo the changes by going back to the same settings.

How to Stop Apps from Reopening After Restart in Mac

To control your apps from re-launching when your Mac crashes or reboots, you need to disable this feature in different settings. Let’s take a look at them one by one:

Step 1: Use the Log Out or Restart Dialog.

Whenever you log out of or restart your Mac using the Apple menu > Restart path, you’ll be faced with a popup dialog that says:

Are you sure you want to restart your computer now?

When the box next to Reopen windows when logging back in is ticked off, then this means that the apps open during the restart will be relaunched when macOS boots again. If you want to prevent this, you need to uncheck this option.

Step 2: Boot into Safe Mode then Restart Normally.

This is another workaround that most users are not aware of. First, you need to boot into Safe Mode by pressing the Shift key when you restart. Once booted into Safe Mode, you can restart normally and all the apps and windows open when you first restarted have been forgotten. However, this doesn’t change any settings on macOS and the next time your Mac restarts, your apps will reopen again. This is just a troubleshooting option if you’re stuck in a boot loop because a problematic app keeps getting reloaded.

Tarzan game free download - Ares, Snood, StarCraft Demo for Mac (Classic OS), and many more programs. Mar 25, 2020. Tarzan game for pc.

Step 3: Tweak the General Preferences.

If you want to change the settings across macOS, you can do so by modifying some preferences. To do this:

  1. Click Apple menu > System Preferences.
  2. Click General.
  3. Tick off the Close windows when quitting an app.
  4. You will see a warning below that says selecting this option will means all open documents and windows will not be restored when you re-open the app.
  5. Close the window.

Step 4: Disable Login Items.

Some apps on your Mac are configured to run during startup automatically. These apps and programs are usually preconfigured by developers or software vendors. If you want to prevent them from loading during a restart, you can do the following:

  1. Click Apple menu > System Preferences.
  2. Select Users and Groups.
  3. In the left column, click on your User name under Current User.
  4. Click on the LoginItems tab.
  5. Delete all the entries that you want to prevent from launching by clicking the (–) button under the list.

Summary

Restart In Mac Bootcamp

Sometimes having Mac reopen the apps or documents you were working on before the restart can save you a lot of time because you can quickly jump in and continue but you were doing. But if you prefer to disable this feature, there are several ways to do so, and we’ve listed them all above.

Run Windows 7 On Mac Mini

Run Nearly Any Operating System on a Mac. Running Windows on Mac is only the beginning. VMware Fusion lets you choose from hundreds of supported operating systems, from lesser-known Linux distributions to the latest Windows 10 release, or even macOS, to run side by side with the latest macOS release on your desktop. No sound from laptop speakers running windows 7 on a mac I have recently installed Windows 7 on my MBP using bootcamp. Everything is fine on the mac side of things, however, I cannot get any sound from my internal speakers on the Windows side, although I can use headphones with no problem. Windows 7 on your Intel Mac - for free! Want to check out Windows 7 on your Intel Mac for free? Simply follow this how-to for a step-by-step guide on getting the latest Microsoft OS on your Intel Mac.

I was playing my favorite game the other day, Star Trek Armada II Fleet Operations. It is, in the words of the developers, “a popular skirmish and multiplayer orientated total conversion modification for Activision’s real-time strategy game, Star Trek: Armada II.” It is a Windows game, and for that I was booted into Windows 7 via Boot Camp on a Mac Pro 3,1 machine.

I had set up a brilliant torpedo/phaser defensive system and was constructing a fleet of Defiant class ships to take on all six Romulan players – six against one, the kind of odds I thrive on. The adrenalin was coursing through my veins as I sent in 94 Defiant class ships armed with the experimental “Critical Shot” ability through the wormhole to begin the destruction of Romulan forces.

Suddenly it quit to the Desktop! An error message appeared whose details basically told me that the game had violated rules on memory. Uttering a few swear words that would peal the paint of a ship, I rebooted. Coming back, I decided I would check Facebook, and again the same memory error occurred after just 5 minutes. Trusting DuckDuckGo, I went out on the web to search for it, and in three Windows forums, fellow Boot Camp users were reporting the same issue with their apps.

Rather than apply the rather lengthily workaround that was suggested (but questionable), I instead got to thinking: Most, if not all, the hardware in the Mac Pro are standard PC cards or PC chips – the processor, RAM, video (nVidia GeForce GT 120), sound, network, and the like all had PC roots and PC drivers. Apple even provides Windows drivers in Boot Camp, so could I not run Windows natively without using Boot Camp?

Vanavil avvaiyar tamil font download. So rather than hunt the web for the answer, I decided to throw caution to the wind, grabbed a large glass of unsweetened tea and a snack, and in true American fashion, did it myself, making mistakes along the way and learning how to work around them. Rather than recount that process here, let me instead show you what to do should you want to do this yourself. Just takes a couple of downloads.

Downloads: First, grab an ISO of Gparted. The Windows 7 installer will not install on the Mac hard drive – it does not like Apple’s GPT format, and the installer will try to format it and in the end does nothing, so you will need this application/program to delete the Mac hard drive format.

Then grab a copy of the Boot Camp 4 drivers. You will need the drivers for Windows to use. You will run Windows Update later to update the drivers anyway. I did not try Boot Camp 5 – perhaps someone else can and will let us know if it works.

Now burn GParted and the Boot Camp 4 applications to a blank DVD. You might be able to fit them on a CD-R by removing the drivers out of the Boot Camp folder you do not need, but DVDs are cheap these days, so save yourself that extra step.

Installing: Now do an Option key reboot – restart the computer holding down the Option key. Select the GParted disc you just created. Gparted will automatically launch and has an interactive menu. The goal is to just delete the Mac hard drive from the list that is presented. Then reboot and hold the mouse button down – this will eject your DVD.

Put in the Windows 7 disc and restart the Mac using the Option key again. Select the Windows 7 disc, then sit back and wait for the installer to come up. When you get to the disk selection, you will see the former Mac drive as “unallocated” space. Select it and select Format. That will format the drive NTFS, and Windows 7 will now install.

After you boot to the Windows Desktop, browse to the DVD drive. There you will see the Boot Camp folder on the DVD. Open it. Now you have two options:

  1. Install the actual drivers you need: Open each folder and launch the installer for that driver.
  2. Launch Boot Camp and let it install all your drivers.

Windows 7 Download For Mac

The downside to Boot Camp doing it is you will have to remove it later on – you will not use the Boot Camp software for anything except this one action. That can be done through the Windows control panel Programs and Features.

Now use Windows Update to update the software and the hardware drivers. This will take some time to do – and a few reboots and rechecks for updates.

Observations: A few things come to mind. First, I no longer have memory errors with Fleet Operations or any application/program. The programs I have run smoothly as silk on the skin.

Reboots do take a little while: Upon boot you see a white screen for a few moments. Just a white screen. Valentina studio pro keygen office 2016. Sit back and wait a few seconds – the boot will happen.

The Option boot sequence still works should you need it. Helpful if you want to also add Linux as an OS or any other operating system. Something to be aware of is that any drive formatted FAT32 or NTFS will read as “Windows” in the Macintosh Boot Manager. This can be problematic if you have multiple drives formatted in NTFS like I did. To make it easier for me, I opened the Pro and pulled out the other hard drives, putting them back in after I was in Windows 7.

Windows 10 can also be installed – grab Service Pack 1 either through Windows Update or via a download from the Microsoft Download Center website, then download the Media Creation Tool and install it. That tool will automatically go out and grab Windows 10 online and upgrade the machine or download an ISO of the version you qualify for. Just be aware of the concerns that ArsTechnica noted about Windows 10 before doing the upgrade.

Macos Sierra Unsupported Mac

In October last year, Apple releases a new version of macOS dubbed as ‘Catalina.’ This latest installment of macOS includes new features, including new apps for podcasts, music, and TV (replacing iTunes), the ability to use iPad as an external monitor, a revamped Photos app, and many more. Seeing this, it’s no wonder that some Mac users want to update their OS version to Catalina. However, not all of them have the luxury to do so.

Restore macbook pro to factory. I am currently researching installing OS X 10.13 High Sierra on unsupported Macs. I did the Sierra upgrade on a couple of MacPros 4,1 and it has worked excellently, after I did a firmware update patch to get it to read as a MacPro 5,1, so I am very optimistic on doing it again. Officially, macOS Catalina won’t work on older Mac devices that are deemed not powerful enough, according to Apple. Additionally, they provided the official list of the supported Macs:

  • MacBook models released in 2015 or after
  • MacBook Air models released in mid-2012 or after
  • MacBook Pro models released in mid-2012 or after
  • Mac mini models released in late 2012 or after
  • iMac models released in late 2012 or after
  • iMac Pro released in 2017
  • Mac Pro models from late 2013

This means that if you have a Macbook Air or iMac released in 2011, you won’t be able to upgrade your OS to Catalina. What version of macOS do you have?

If you’re unsure what version of macOS you have, you can check your macOS or OS X version by clicking the Apple icon at the top-left corner of Mac’s screen, then select About This Mac. In the Overview tab, look at the Mac model year below the OS version number. If the year is the same or above the previous compatibility list, then you should be able to install macOS Catalina formally. If not, read on. 5dimes check payout.

Make your old Mac support macOS Catalina

Older Mac owners don’t have to worry. It’s not the end of the world. There’s a patch that lets you install Catalina to Macs that are not officially supported.

Macbook unzip program

The patch is known as DosDude Catalina Patcher. DosDude Catalina Patcher is a third-party tool, meaning Apple does not develop the tool. It’s made by an individual developer instead. Keep in mind that just because you can make your old Mac run Catalina, it doesn’t necessarily mean it will always be a good thing to do. Arq 5 1 5 download free.

Apple prevents older devices to run Catalina for a reason. As mentioned before, anything older than the officially supported hardware will most likely offer suboptimal performance using Catalina, not to mention that some features need newer hardware to function properly.

Despite that, it doesn’t mean that all old machines won’t run macOS Catalina well. Given that your hardware is capable enough, running Catalina shouldn’t introduce any lasting problems. The macOS Catalina Patcher is also updated regularly to address any issues that may surface. Otherwise, you can always downgrade your macOS to an older version if needed.

Install macOS Catalina on an older Mac

Before we begin, it might be a good idea to have a backup of your system using Time Machine, just in case. Creating a backup is always recommended. It’s not only useful for installing a new OS version can enable you to undo any changes after an update, which would be very helpful should something go wrong.

High Sierra For Unsupported Mac

Once you are ready to jump into upgrading, follow the step-by-step guide below to install macOS Catalina on an older Mac using DosDude Catalina Patcher.

  1. First off, download the most recent version of Catalina Patcher from the official website.
  2. After the app is downloaded and installed, open it.
  3. The app will present you with a welcoming message. Keep clicking Continue until it finishes.
  4. Afterward, you need to get the macOS Installer App from Apple. You can either Download a Copy or Browse for a Copy… if you already have one. If you choose to download, the file size is about 7 to 8 GB, so you may need to wait for a while.
  5. Plug in a USB flash drive to your Mac and select Create a bootable installer on the Installation Method section.
  6. On the next screen, your flash drive should be detected as a volume. Else, you may have to first format your USB drive into macOS Extended Journaled if you haven’t already.
  7. When the flash drive is detected, select it, and click Start.
  8. Once the bootable installer is copied into the USB drive, restart your Mac. Hold down the Option key while the rebooting process takes place to open up the Startup Manager.
  9. From the boot list, choose the USB flash drive installer.
  10. Then, you’ll be taken to the macOS Utilities window. One thing to note is that if you run a version of macOS that is earlier than High Sierra, you’ll need to reformat your installation hard drive to APFS before proceeding. Use the Disk Utility option from the available list on the macOS Utilities window to do so. Otherwise, skip to the next step.
  11. Click on Reinstall macOS to install Catalina. Simply follow the process until the new OS, and the relevant patches are installed successfully.

Now, you can enjoy the latest version of macOS on an older Mac. Remember that Apple doesn’t recommend you do this, so some troubles might show up when operating your device. Even though dosdude1, the developer of Catalina Patcher, introduces new patches regularly, it shouldn’t be surprising if the experience may not be as good as using Catalina on Macs that officially supports it.

I got a PowerMac G5 about a year ago, grabbed it to use as a secondary computer or to sell. It didn't come with a hard drive, but I finally grabbed a 250GB drive and threw it in there (after formatting to exFAT and making it a GPT). I've got OSX Yosemite installer from Transmac onto my USB drive. (PNY USB 3.0 64GB) I hold down ALT/Option and I get a screen that only shows a refresh icon and an arrow facing right. Does the hard drive need to be reformatted somehow? Can the G5 for some reason not install from a 3.0 Drive? Should I try loading the .dmg onto a DVD and installing that way?
Hello.
I am looking for advice about how to upgrade this wonderful machine and the OS. Really love it - have it since forever - 2006, I think - and hope I can still upgrade the OS to the Snow Leopard ..eventually (?).
Do I need to buy CD box set from Apple? (My support with Apple ended longest time ago.)
Do I need to change something in the computer /hardware?
Like is it a big problem that it does not have an Intel processor (sorry if this is a silly question and if I actually have such)?
